Obeid confirms candidacy for elections

Former Foreign Minister Jean Obeid said in an interview with As-Safir daily on Thursday that he was still running in the upcoming parliamentary elections for the Maronite seat in the Tripoli district as an independent candidate. He said he did not want to campaign for the seat, "but I do not want to disappoint Tripoli citizens who trust me."

"I am not a coward, and I do not lack courage. I know very well how to distinguish between courage and irrationality," he said.
