Aoun: We Don´t Sell Parliamentary Seats, We Enter Battle to Win
Sourc: Al-Manar TV, 13-4-2009
The head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun condemned on Monday the attack that targeted a convoy of the Lebanese army in eastern Lebanon, noting at the same time that what happened was driven by a family's need for revenge and does not have a political dimension.
Speaking to reporters following his bloc's weekly meeting at his residence in Rabieh, Aoun reiterated that the agreement between the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) and Hizbullah runs deep and has safeguarded Lebanon from falling into the holes of civil war. He emphasized that the Lebanese must choose between living in a sectarian cocoon and between open mindedness and living in harmony.
Meanwhile, the General pointed out that the FPM's candidates will be named only from Rabieh. "There are certain standards that we will adhere to in naming the contenders," he recalled, stressing that it wasn't possible to abandon a candidate who can guarantee success for the opposition list.
Aoun stressed that he was in charge of naming the FPM candidates and he would fully assume his duties, denying the presence of compromises here or there. "Both the general and the FPM do not sell parliamentary seats to anyone," he said. "I enter the electoral battles to win," he added.
