Former Prime Minister Omar Karami told As-Safir newspaper on Thursday that the "Tripoli Solidarity List announced by former Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Economy and Trade Minister Mohammad Safadi and Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri Wednesday was formed by contradictions in an attempt "to besiege and fight us."

"Tripoli will prove once again at the ballot boxes that it will rise for its dignity," he added.
Karami also said that Mikati, Safadi and Hariri were competing over wealth and the PM's position in the new cabinet; therefore, he said that their agreement was temporary, and they would go their separate ways "once each one of them achieves his goals."

Karami confirmed he would continue the electoral battle until the end, adding that if he were not fit to compete in the upcoming parliamentary elections, "I would have not announced my candidacy."
He also said that he considered expanding his list to include Khaldoun al-Sharif and Nabil Arja.
