Syrian Ambassador to Washington: We Want Peaceful Elections in Lebanon

The Syrian ambassador to Washington, Imad Mostapha, has reiterated that his country wants to see the Lebanese parliamentary elections pass smoothly and peacefully. Speaking to the US magazine "Foreign Policy", Mostapha said that both, the USA and Syria, are trying to help their allies in Lebanon to win in these elections.

The Syrian ambassador stressed that regardless of the results of the elections, the winner has to include the losers in a governmental coalition. Mostapha told the magazine that Damascus has advised its allies in Lebanon to do this.
