Berri: Lebanon Has Right to Regain Territory through All Means

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said on Sunday that any ‘Israeli' withdrawal from Lebanese territories did not mean that the Zionist entity had suddenly changed from "a racist and extremist entity into a peaceful one, which gives gifts."

Speaking during a political gathering in the southern village of Msayleh, Berri recalled that the ‘Israeli' occupation of some Lebanese territories despite the international resolution 1701 was another proof of the ‘Israeli' dishonesty in its commitment to the United Nations resolutions and of its ongoing intention to challenge the international will.

"Whether ‘Israel' withdrew from the Ghajar village before or after the parliamentary elections or before or after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu trip to Washington, the ‘Israeli' violation of all international resolutions is evident," Berri said.

He said that Lebanon had the right to reclaim every inch of its territory through all the available means guaranteed by the law and legislations, including the right to resist an occupying force. He also said that the elections should not make the Lebanese lose focus on how to confront the Zionist entity's hostile intentions, stressing the need to foster national unity, which he said was and would remain the basis in confronting ‘Israel'.

Berri questioned if the sudden ‘Israeli' withdrawal was part of the military maneuver, which is expected to take place between March 31 and June 4. He concluded that ‘Israel's' spying networks that were uncovered in Lebanon over the past few months exhibited ‘Israel's' "intentions to target Lebanon, its stability and security."
