Sheikh Qassem: Hold Judges Who Erred Accountable

Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem demanded holding the ‘judges who erred against Lebanon" accountable. Speaking at a funeral ceremony, Sheikh Qassem stressed the four released General had been unfairly and aggressively in political, not judicial detention. "They were detained for domestic, regional and international political ends and for accounts unrelated to the assassination case of martyr Rafik Hariri."

His eminences called for uncovering the truth behind the assassination and expose those who misled the investigation for four years. "The March 14 team is involved in the detention of the four officers. This team had turned into a group of judges and investigators on media airwaves.

We used to hear their arguments and their accusations without the presence of any lawyer. They used to recount the smallest details, condemn and issue verdicts according to their imaginations. It has become clear that their allegations have been false."

Sheikh Qassem also said that "the release of the four officers is the step before the last that will see the political structure on which the March 14 bloc had relied on finally collapse. The final step will be the election in June. It will be a chance for the people to express rejection to March 14 policies and to underline the unusefulness of foreign support."
