Fadlallah: Some consider criticism of politicians attacks against their faith
Source: nowlebanon.com, 08-05-2009
Prominent Lebanese Shiaa cleric Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah said that when one criticizes Lebanon's confessional politicians, their respective communities would consider it an attack against their faith.
During Friday Prayers, Fadlallah said that if someone talked about "mistakes committed by judges, leaders or criminals responsible for the country's tragedies, they will be attacked because this is a matter of ‘national security'."
He also said that tense rhetoric in campaign speeches is affecting the Lebanese, leading them to cast their votes on the basis of reactions and not the electoral programs of the candidates.
Fadlallah called for favoring the national interest over confessional and personal ones.
