Fneish: Free & fair economy without political influences is a key to investment & stability
Labor Minister Mohammed Fneish declared: "In Lebanon, we are in the process of preparation and commitment to hold parliamentary elections as scheduled. We reaffirm the need to make competition part of the visions, perceptions and evaluation of policies that have been pursued in the past years, the causes behind the accumulation of public debt and the effects that had on the economy and on its growth, in the way of obstacles, diminished living standards, increase in poverty and unemployment."
The elections are an opportunity to resort to the people's will through the presentation of political, social and economic programs, rather than an occasion for re-inciting instincts and extremism. It is odd that some people consider criticizing such practices and objecting to such policies takes away from the status of a certain religion or sect, or a threat to the role of a certain institution. As if remaining silent to mistakes and transgressions is to protect institutions and not vice versa."
Minister Fneish asked how can anyone employing accountability or questioning breaches of duty or violations can be considered [by some] the one threatening the functioning of institutions?"
