Opposition candidates in the Baalbek-Hermel area, MPs Hussein Hajj Hassan, Marwan Fares, Kamel Rifahi and lawyer Emile Rahmeh met the people of Shmistar town and its vicinity at an election campaign rally in the town.

Hajj Hassan delivered a speech in which he stressed the opposition's quest to acquire the majority in parliament "to govern on partnership basis from the position of majority" explaining that "We want a free, sovereign and secure homeland, not a field where the Mossad plays and the national choice is confiscated."

He said: "Once the compass of the security apparatuses was re-orientated away from focusing on the opposition, a large part of collaborators networks collapsed."

He said, adding: "If you want security consolidate the security forces, especially the army, and direct their work in the right direction-the Zionist enemy, whereas we want a country, Arab in identity and belonging, with Palestine and Gaza's support in the heart of its causes."
