Raad: Attempts to Scare Lebanese of Opposition´s Victory Illusions
Source: almanar.com.lb, 28-5-2009
The head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad assured the people of the South that the political and security situation in Lebanon was good, noting that statements seeking to draw a "dramatic" picture were aimed at "making the others feel" they lost their positions of power.
Speaking during an electoral meeting in the southern town of Ansar, Raad slammed political rivals for trying to present a possible victory by the opposition as "catastrophic" to the country's economy.
"Attempts to scare (the Lebanese) of the opposition's accession to power as detrimental to the economy are all illusions," Raad said. "An economic catastrophe is now taking over the country and we hope the opposition will be able to put an end to this disaster and to turn the table toward expediting growth and reducing budget deficit," he added.
The Hizbullah MP said that the "Israeli" July 2006 war against Lebanon pushed the international forces in the region to "reevaluate their systems and alliances." He emphasized that these powers opened communication channels with countries that were once "isolated and under siege."
