Finally, the confusion raised over the commitment to the Doha agreement in the Beirut II district saw its end on Thursday...

Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary district MP Amin Cherri declared that Hizbullah decided to direct its electoral base to vote for both AMAL movement candidate Hani kobeissi and Future movement candidate Nohad Mashnouk according to the Doha agreement.

Cherri stressed that Hizbullah was committed to the mentioned agreement. He, meanwhile, noted that the mentioned agreement didn't include a specific mechanism to guarantee the victory of the two mentioned candidates.

"According to the agreement, two loyalty candidates and two opposition ones should win the seats in the district. However, we're not obligated to vote in favor of the loyalty candidate," he said. "Yet, Hizbullah took its decision to vote in favor of Masnouq."

Earlier, Lebanese daily As-Safir said Hizbullah informed the head of the Future movement MP Saad Hariri that it will vote for its candidate in the Beirut II district. "If voting for Mashnouk and kobeisi pleases everybody, then Hizbullah is ready for this option without any reservation," the daily As-Safir quoted a Hizbullah source as saying.
The daily said that Hariri thanked Hizbullah and its leadership for their responsiveness and for dispelling concerns.
