Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh accused President Michel Suleiman of interfering in the elections in Jbeil. "The president was the one who interfered in the elections and withdrew Emile Nawfal," he said.

Franjieh said that the president should not be ashamed, and that "some Lebanese believe President Suleiman has two faces and speaks with two different idioms."
"He has to say that these are his candidates in Jbeil and that he comes everyday to Amchit, sleeps there and holds meetings for the mayors and the candidates," he said.

In an interview with al-Jazeera TV on Friday, Franjieh added that he has normal relations with President Suleiman, but he confirmed his rejection of a president with a parliamentary bloc.

He also said, "We are with the Syrian-Iranian axis and we are proud of it, we do not want to be followers of the American policies. What is certain is that the US is using Lebanon as an arena, and when the time comes for regional settlements, they will be at the expense of Lebanon." He added that the US cannot isolate Lebanon if the opposition wins.

Franjieh said that he is certain "that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun will win in Jbeil, Kesrouan and Metn districts, since the elections are not ordinary but decisive, and the people are split politically."
He also said that his candidate for the Prime Minister if the opposition wins is Omar Karami.
