Hajj Hassan met Solana: The meeting a goodwill gesture from EU to Hizbullah
Hizbollah Site Staff, 13-06-2009
Member of Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Hussein Hajj Hassan announced that the European Union security and foreign policy representative Javier Solana told him "their meeting is a good faith gesture from the EU to Hizbullah after the elections."
In their meeting, held in Parliament House, Hajj Hassan and Solana touched on the topics of the future parliamentary elections, the next government, the situation in Lebanon, and resolution 1701.
Hajj Hassan informed Solana of the size of "Israeli" violations and threats to Lebanon, the latest made by the Zionist war minister Ehud Barak when he said he will "Show Lebanon the might of 'Israel' and its army", and the size of violations made by "Israeli" spy networks.
Al-Hajj Hassan added: "When we touched on the so-called peace process, I said to Solana that any talk that excludes the Palestinian people's right to return and self-determination is not acceptable at all. Any solution at Lebanon's expense is also unacceptable. Furthermore, we as Hizbullah do not believe there is such thing as peace process, the mirage of the so-called peace processes lead to further concessions and losses."
Hajj Hassan made clear to Solana that "the opposition accepted the results of the elections, despite the course of the electoral process and election law," he also explained the importance and role of the resistance in Lebanon's history and the preservation of the country's independence. He also assured Solana that the resistance subject is a source of pride, honour and dignity the Lebanese insist on.
When Solana touched on Hizbullah arms the MP replied that it is "A Lebanese matter being discussed on the Lebanese dialogue table."
Hajj Hassan stressed that "the relationship with the EU is not new but what is new is this visit," considering that "Our positions do not have to be identical" stressing the atmosphere was positive, giving positive indications for the future."
