Khalil: Nasrallah-Jumblatt meeting will positively affect opposition-majority relations
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 19-6-2009
Development and Liberation bloc MP Ali Hassan Khalil told Al-Manar television on Friday that the meeting between Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt will have positive effects on the relations between the opposition and the majority.
Khalil added that the meeting was expected, especially after Jumblatt's positive rhetoric, which "started a while ago."
He also said that the election of the next speaker cannot be connected to any other key event that is due to take place soon, a reference to the appointment of the prime minister and the formation of the government.
The Free Patriotic Movement will facilitate the formation of the new cabinet, because the upcoming phase urges all parties to make an effort in order to confront prospective challenges, Khalil said.
"If the majority chooses Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri for the position of prime minister, we will support this choice, because it will facilitate holding upcoming key events," he said.
