As-Safir: Hizbullah insists on guaranteeing third vote
As-Safir newspaper reported on Saturday that during a meeting with Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri proposed a 30 member cabinet, with 16 ministers for the majority, 10 for the opposition, and 4 for President Michel Suleiman.
According to a source cited by the newspaper, Nasrallah rejected this formula and reiterated the opposition's demand for an guaranteeing third vote. Both leaders decided to continue discussions on the subject during future bilateral consultations.
The source also said that leading March 14 alliance figures approved Hariri's cabinet formula, but President Suleiman expressed reservations and wanted to be given five ministers, so he can have a swaying vote.
Nasrallah informed Hariri about his meeting with Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt, and both insisted on the importance of expanding reconciliations to involve all parties.
The source stated that both leaders discussed regional conditions, including Syrian-Saudi talks, events in Iran, and Palestinian developments.
