Tens of thousands of Hamas supporters joined rally in Gaza City on Monday to mark the founding of the Islamist Resistance movement, 22 years ago. The Islamist green swept the streets of the city, assuring that the popularity of Hamas persist amid claims that it declined after the "Israeli" aggression on Gaza which resulted in the death of 1400 Palestinians; mostly civilians.
Supporters carried banners in green reading "There is no God but Allah "which stands for Hamas' slogan, as well as Palestinian flags and portraits of the movement's founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.
Prime Minister Ismail Haniya addressed the crowd by stressing that Hamas remains committed to the liberation of "all of Palestine".
"It is not enough for Hamas to liberate Gaza, nor to establish an emirate in Gaza, nor a state, nor an independent entity ... Hamas strive to liberate all of Palestine."
"Those that planned the war, and executed it, when they bombed Gaza and killed thousands, did not imagine that such a day would come in the Gaza Strip," Haniya added.
"Hamas has not fallen despite the war, the Zionist enemy leaders are the ones that fell. Hamas has continued to grow and gain strength despite all the hardship it has suffered, all the arrests, the expulsions and the assassinations," he continued.
Haniya stressed that now, after four years of a siege, efforts to isolate Hamas have failed. "There has never in history been a siege like the one imposed on us in recent year. Hamas is steadfast despite all the hardship and the crises, and the masses here are simply a divine miracle."
Haniya concluded by reiterating his vow not to abandon the path of "resistance" and holy war.
Hamas is heading to achieve a breakthrough in a major prisoner exchange involving thousands of Palestinians and the abducted "Israeli" soldier, Gilad Shalit.
Bringing home hundreds of Palestinian prisoners - with some influential figures among them - would attain Palestinians and their resistance victory.
"Israel's" blockade on Gaza in addition to its brutal assault have caused more suffering and left thousands homeless, yet Palestinians revive their commitment to defy and defend their land as they celebrate their resistance.
The Islamic resistance movement, Hamas, has been founded in 1987 and since that time it has been defending the rights of Palestinians to return their occupied land from the "Israeli" entity.
