The National Economic, Trade, Industry and Planning Committee held its scheduled meeting for today to deliberate the truth about rumours of damages from agricultural drugs and fertilizers, and the threats that affect vegetables and fruit.

As a result of the debate, it became apparent that these rumours hold some substance at the level of imported goods and those locally produced.

The Minister of Agriculture Dr. Hussein Hajj Hassan confirmed that a plan was started, to address the existing problem in coordination between him and the Minister of Economy, additional to working towards the adoption of existing relevant proposals and draft laws in Parliament, as well as working at another level on fitting the laboratories with the necessary equipment and machinery along the parallel promotion of human cadres.

Hajj Hassan also asserted that a plan will be adopted to track the movement of pesticides the laboratories find unsafe, in order to reach their users and traffickers, and issue tougher penalties against them.
