The Deputy Secretary-General of Hizbullah, His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem said in a speech he gave on the eighth Ashoura night in Albasta Tahta area, that "Without being raised on the Jihad path of al-Hussein (pbuh) the Islamic Resistance would not have emerged, and the support of its brave youth and the enduring and openhanded women."

He said "Large headings such as these in Lebanon make the smaller ones raised by some seem derided, yet still it is sometimes necessary to make the facts clear to public opinion", indicating that "The UN Resolution named 1559 was stillborn, we said this at its birth, and that it is of no concern to us."

Sheikh Qassem said that "If the intention of those who raised UNR 1559 was to circumvent the resistance and direct their arrows at it, only to provide evidence of their political existence, we tell them "Your squalling will not give fruit, because experience has demonstrated the role of the resistance, its successes and liberation."

He went on stating some of the achievements the resistance had a good hand in making:
- America was driven out of Lebanon-the gateway to the New Middle East project- instead of being allowed to begin its project from it.

- "Israel" was defeated and Lebanon remained proud, with its head held high, leaving "Israel" unable to exploit or control it.
- The Lebanese parliamentary elections were accomplished; a consensus Prime Minister uniting the people was designated.

- Parliamentary elections took place in a calm manner albeit political spending was excessive, we accepted the results despite its huge flaws, this acceptance formed a success decoration.
- We also managed to accomplish a national unity government
- The resistance was among the sides that paved the way and facilitated for the return of inter-Arab relations and Syrian-Lebanese relations.

Sheikh Qassem pointed out that "Since we have reconciled as Lebanese on holding a dialogue forum to study the defense strategy, why raise the subject now outside the agreed dialogue forum? Why all this kafuffle?"

"Is it because they fear the results of the dialogue table, and therefore believe it will further instill and strengthen the resistance right for its people, army and Mujahideen?"

"Are they trying to preempt their attendance at the dialogue table because they sense they face a strong and solid resistance logic backed by evidence, proof and practical experience, while their opposing logic or opinion lacks proof and persuasion?"

"If your preemptive step is to bring down the dialogue forum and substitute it by this media screaming, this will not succeed as dialogue is the solution. If you lack sufficient evidence, then review your position and performance, because anyone that follows policies inconsistent with the Lebanese unitary track will in the end loose their argument and group, thus in a year or two they will find their support base has considerably shrunk."

"The political card mixing phase has ended, now is the time for results. Circumstances, history, and track in Lebanon are about national unity, understanding, State building, and support for the resistance in the face of 'Israeli' occupation."

His Eminence indicated "We acknowledge that praise God, we were able to bother, worry and impede the Americans and 'Israelis' and their projects in Lebanon and the region. Frankly, Hizbullah has a group with clear and logical convictions following a noble and honorable political path and this irritated America and 'Israel' and those with them."

"They tried to confuse our image by a propaganda campaign presenting us under terrorism labels, and yet we came through as dignified resistance combatants, cherished in Lebanon and the world. They attempted to isolate us by saying we are a small band from a single confession, when events showed we are linked with political groups of substantial public support throughout different religious confessions, hence our clearly evident popular majority was based in trust in the resistance.

They attempted to undermine our morale, but we emerged from the July 2006 war and the political and media restrictions tough, strong, heads high proud of our work... Anyway, in all cases this procession is guarded by God."
