During an overall political review presented in the Syrian People's council over "Syria's foreign policies in the 2009 and its positions towards regional and international changes", the Syrian Secretary of state, Walid Al Moallem, said that each of the Lebanese President, Michel Suleiman, and the Lebanese Prime Minister, Saed Al Hariri's visits, represented a special base for a strong relationship between the two countries.

Al Moallem cited the importance of talks between the Syrian President Bashar Al Asad and the Lebanese leasers who visited Damascus, like the President Michel Suleiman and the Prime Minister Saed Al Hariri, considering that these visits have made a special base for strong relations that respect the interests of both countries' people.

In addition, Al Moallem praised the successes the Syrian foreign policy has achieved during the year 2009 on different levels, whether Syria's Arab, regional, or international relationship, describing the Syrian-Iranian relations as special and serve the interests of the region.

The Syrian Secretary of State also confirmed that the indirect settling talks between Syria and the Zionist enemy will not continue, according to what happened during five round of indirect negotiations held in Istanbul, unless the enemy declares acceptance to withdraw to the 4th of June 1967 line. And again in this context, Syria hangs on to the Turkish moderation during these negotiations.
