Outcome of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc regular weekly meeting
The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc held its regular weekly meeting today Wednesday 06-01-2009 with the attendance of its head and all its members.
The conferees expressed the bloc's sincerest wishes and congratulations for the beginning of the New Year to all the Lebanese, praying for a good and safe year for all, harmony and progress for Lebanon.
The bloc hoped for a quick launch of constitutional institutions to accommodate the country's requirements of public order and the citizens' priorities referred to by the ministerial statement of the Government.
With regards to the atmospheres of direct and indirect intimidation of a potential Zionist aggression on Lebanon, the bloc sees that such atmospheres call for additional serious understandings domestically as a national responsibility rather than allow these threats to be used as a pretext for creating confusion and for disrupting public life.
Therefore completing reconciliations and adopting a calm rhetoric and responsible dialogue become more of a national duty than a simple desire or a wish.
The bloc called for expediting the completion of year 2010 general budget, for the positive impact this would have on overall events and activities in the country.
With regards to administrative appointments, the bloc recommends the adoption of a practical mechanism, which contributes to providing reasonable opportunities for the qualified and experienced on the one hand, and on the other it relieves those concerned from major embarrassment caused by heavy requests in the absence of proper screening standards.
Additionally, such mechanism, frees the administration from the shackles of having to act according to moodiness and unfixed discretion instead of fixed screening standards, thus accomplishing paragraph "B" under Article 95 of the Constitution.
On Lebanon's assumption of its non-permanent UN Security Council membership, the bloc said Lebanon should be more precise and effective, it should practice additional coordination on the domestic and Arab world fronts, in order to take the necessary stands that better serve the interests of Lebanon, the Arab world and its central cause that is Palestine, the interests of the vulnerable peoples and nations, as well as the issues of freedom, justice, and the protection of human rights in the world.
