Local Editor, 14-01-2010
MP Fadlallah commends the decision reached by the Council of Ministers yesterday on confronting the American draft law aimed at penalizing satellite television channels.
President of the parliamentary Media and Communications Committee, MP Dr. Hassan Fadlallah praised the government's decision to confront the American draft law aimed at punishing satellite media channels and satellites broadcasting their signals for incitement against the United States.
In his statement in parliament Fadlallah said such a step, confirms at overall national level, Lebanon's leading role in defending media freedoms, hoping efforts by Information Minister Tarek Mitri, now participating in the Arab information ministers meeting in Cairo, be crowned with success and reach a unified Arab stance on this precarious draft law.
Minister Fadlallah thanked the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman for adopting this issue and raising it at diplomatic level, he also thanked the Prime Minister and ministers saying "Today, we stand together in solidarity; such a stand gives impetus and strength to Lebanon's role at this confrontation level."
