Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has cautioned European nations against adopting what he called “historical #NAZI mindsets” by backing the ongoing “Israeli”-US aggression against Iran.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Baghaei specifically criticized Germany’s position and warned European states against complicity in what he described as war crimes.

Referring to the 2015 nuclear agreement, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA], Baghaei noted that the EU and E3 countries once played a crucial diplomatic role in reaching the deal, which was later undermined by unilateral US withdrawal in 2018.

He warned that under pressure from the #German Chancellor, some EU members risk being on the “wrong side of history” by appearing complicit in US and “Israeli” acts of aggression.

Baghaei urged the EU to uphold international law and justice rather than repeat the mistakes of the past.

The post included a video of Belgian MEP Marc Botenga, who criticized the EU’s double standards, questioning why “Israeli” nuclear capabilities are tolerated while Iran is portrayed as the main threat.

Botenga condemned ongoing attacks in the region, including strikes on Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Iran, and criticized the EU for failing to address US withdrawal from the JCPOA.

He also denounced sanctions harming ordinary Iranians, making access to medicine and essential goods more difficult.

In recent days, senior German officials, including Chancellor Friedrich Merz, have expressed support for the “Israeli”-US operations.

The US and “Israeli” forces launched an offensive on Saturday, targeting 30 sites across Tehran and killing several senior Iranian officials, including Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Since then, Iran has responded with missile and drone strikes on “Israeli”-occupied territories and US bases in the region.

Iranian officials maintain that these actions constitute “legitimate self-defense,” citing Article 51 of the UN Charter as justification for responding to acts of aggression by the US or the “Israeli” entity.
