Heavy clashes erupted on Tuesday's dawn between armed members of Eastern Ghouta and other Druze groups in Jaramana city, close to Damascus, leaving three people dead and eight wounded.

Videos that went viral online depicted battles involving a variety of weapons, such as light, medium and machine guns. There was a loud shooting sound.

Syrian media reported that large army reinforcements had moved into Jaramana and were engaged in combat with Druze fighters at the town's borders. There were battles at the "Al-Naseem" border.

According to reports, religious tension sparked the fighting after a voice message insulting the Prophet Muhammad [Peace Be upon Him] went viral and was attributed to one of the Druze sheikhs.

Students from As Suwayda and those from other governorates had previously fought in Homs City. The situation became more complex when two As Suwayda youths were arrested by security personnels.

Additionally, the Syrian Druze group "The Syrian Brigade Party" stated that everyone in their community needs to be prepared to defend homes and cities in the province of As Suwayda.

They accused “Ahmad Shar’a’s regime” of remaining silent and failing to halt strange activities in the Jaramana area the last time.

In a statement, the Druze community's religious leaders in Jaramana stated that they would not tolerate derogatory remarks made about Prophet Muhammad. They claimed that the voicemail intended to cause conflict between individuals.

They added that the majority of those killed or injured were employed by the city's public security organization.

The Druze leaders demanded that the government protect citizens and their property and asked the relevant departments to speak with the public and explain what had happened.
