Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that nothing is more beneficial to the Islamic Ummah than unity, calling on Muslim nations to join ranks and prevent crises like those devastating Gaza and Yemen.

In a speech delivered in Tehran on Sunday to officials and organizers of Hajj, Imam Khamenei reflected on the annual pilgrimage as a powerful symbol of unity. He underscored that Hajj gathers Muslims from across the globe, regardless of race, color or background, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity among the faithful.

“The Hajj gathering is for the benefit of humanity, and there is no benefit for the Islamic Ummah greater than unity,” he said. He stressed that if Muslim nations stood united, tragedies like the ongoing genocide in Gaza or the pressure on Yemen would not have been allowed to unfold.

Gaza, Imam Khamenei noted, continues to endure a horrific campaign of violence by the “Israeli” entity, which has martyred nearly 53,000 Palestinians since October 2023 and left the territory in ruins. Meanwhile, Yemen has also been subjected to deadly airstrikes carried out by “Israeli”, US and British warplanes since March 15. The attacks escalated under President Donald Trump’s administration and continue in an attempt to halt Yemen’s operations in support of the people of Gaza.

The Leader warned that disunity among Muslims allows external powers—namely the “colonialists,” the US, and the “Zionist entity”—to impose their interests and hegemonic ambitions across the region. “With the unity of the Ummah, security, progress, and synergy among Islamic countries and their assistance to each other become possible,” he affirmed.

Imam Khamenei further stressed that Hajj is not only a religious obligation but also a deeply political gathering. “Contrary to those who try to depoliticize it, the essence of Hajj is political—its appearance is political, and its composition is political,” he said.

He described Hajj as a divine arrangement for the “management of humanity,” not just Muslims, highlighting its broader role in promoting global justice and collective responsibility.

Calling on Islamic governments, particularly Saudi Arabia, to fulfill their duty in upholding the true purpose of Hajj, the Leader said it is essential to articulate its goals clearly. He urged state officials, scholars, intellectuals and influencers to educate the public about the spiritual and political significance of Hajj, presenting it as a service not only to the Islamic world but to all humanity.
