For the anniversary of the plight of Palestine and the nation on May 15th, Hizbullah released the following statement:

The anniversary of the "Nakba" (Arabic for catastrophe or plight) in Palestine, arrives while the nation undergoes a critical stage, when the enemies are working on diverting the peoples of the Islamic world away from the real and central cause, manifested in the Zionist occupation of Palestine and the establishment of the usurper entity on its land, without any right to do so, and the killing and displacement of its people, confiscation of their land, and the attempt to annul their past history, present and future.

As in every year, this anniversary comes while the Palestinian question is in even more dangerous circumstances, due to the sense felt by the enemy of drawing near to achieving its ultimate objective of abolishing Palestine as a cause from the dictionary of politics in circulation, using the dust raised on various issues to distract the Arab and Islamic peoples for this fundamental issue.

However, what the enemy thinks success of having taken the Palestinian issue out of the equation, through long and frequent settlement negotiations, under various titles, while courted by some of those involved in this issue is an illusion experienced by enemy leaders. As this issue continues to live in the Palestinian people's hearts, who will not accept a substitute for Palestine as a homeland, and the hearts of the Arab and Islamic peoples who believe Palestine is a ‘Waqf' (Arabic for stop or cease to be personal property) endowment no one can neglect, forfeit or waive, however intense were the difficulties or long and harsh the days.

Experience in recent years proved all pursued settlement negotiations and choices of compromise to be a complete failure, unable to regain a single inch of Palestinian land. But these weak and submissive options time and time again provided the enemy with ample opportunity to intensify settlement building in the occupied territories, and mask its attempts to destroy the holy sites in the Palestinian territories, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In contrast, the past years showed that the only way land was liberated without restrictions or conditions free of enemy dictates was through resistance and sacrifice as witnessed by this nation, when most of the occupied Lebanese territories and the Gaza Strip were liberated. The enemy withdrew its forces and occupation to escape the blows of the resistance and the huge losses inflicted on the ranks.

With the "Nakba" anniversary coming back round for the 62nd time, we call on all Arab nations to keep the Palestinian issue alive in the eyes and hearts of all generations. To provide all support and backing necessary, and to champion the resistance approach as the only path representing hope for land liberation and for the restoration of the dignity wasted by the Zionist usurpers and their international protectors.
