Supreme leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has stated that the enemies` threats would cause the nation`s self-reliance stronger. Imam Khamenei referred to the continuous threats against the Islamic Republic, adding that those who threaten Iran of military attack should understand that their threats would not go unpunished. He said attacking Iran in a `hit and run` base is not possible, and any aggressor has to accept the full consequences.
The US government has been threatening Iran with military attacks over its peaceful nuclear program. The threat has intensified at a time when Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have agreed on an action plan to resolve the dispute over the Islamic republic nuclear issue. In a meeting with the heads of the three branches of the Iranian government, as well as other senior government officials, ministers and civil servants Saturday afternoon, Imam Khamenei said the reason the enemies keep repeating their threats is to discourage and dishearten the Iranian people and officials, but, his eminence said, the Iranian people and the government are never intimidated, and much to the surprise of the enemies, will enhance their readiness for the worse situation.
"Their threats indicate the hollowness of the West`s liberal democracy in terms of thought and logic", Imam Khamenei said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been present in the region and the world with its logic, thought and spiritual motivation but the hegemonic powers-who have nothing to offer logically or spiritually-have resorted to the language of force.
He added that Iran`s enemies and the so-called Western Liberal democracies, are rather like an illiterate human being, who when is confronted by an educated person, can only show off his muscles and brute strength. Elsewhere in his remarks, Sayyed Khamenei referred to the enemies efforts to portray the Islamic system of Iran as inefficient and dysfunctional. He emphasized that the Iranian nation must have self-confidence, and believe in its scientific and technological abilities, and must guard its Islamic identity, and strengthen democracy; all of this pointing to the very efficient and functional system of Islamic government in the Islamic republic of Iran.
