Iran on Defense System: Western Drones Shot Down and New Missile Systems Join Iran Navy

The Islamic Republic of Iran has started the new year with two important announcements on the level of its defense system, which one more time proves Iran's readiness in face of any aggression or violation.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Air Force Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh announced on Sunday that the has so far shot down two Western spy planes in the Persian Gulf.

"Westerners have a series of capabilities from long ago which cannot be ignored... for example they have spy drones which can take pictures in some places," Hajizadeh stated.
"But they (Westerners) use these [drones] mostly in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan and they do not dare using these [planes] in our country," Fars News Agency quoted Hajizadeh as saying.

The Iranian commander added that few aggressions have happened against Iran and IRGC has so far downed many of their advanced spy planes.
Hajizadeh said this is the first time the incident of shooting down Western drone planes is publically announced.

On a related note, the Iranian Defense Ministry has delivered new naval cruise missile systems to the Navy in yet another move to boost the nation's defense capability, Press TV reported on Monday.

"The systems are capable of spotting and destroying different targets at sea," said Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi at the delivery ceremony of the missile system on Monday.

Gen. Vahidi pointed out that the systems include launch pads as well as spotting and missile guiding systems, explaining that all the systems have been fully designed and produced by local experts.

According to Gen. Vahidi, the deployment of the missile systems along the country's coastline will not only boost national defense capability, but play a key role in maintaining regional security and stability as well.

Iran has achieved numerous breakthroughs in the defense sector and reached self-sufficiency in producing various types of military equipment and systems.
