Lebanese Pime Minister Saad Hariri stressed Lebanon's insistence on " the full implementation of U.N. Security Council resolution 1701, urging the UN Security Council (UNSC) Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon "to increase pressure on "Israel" to stop its violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and borders, whether the territorial, aerial or maritime."

According to the Lebanese PM's media office, during a one-hour meeting in New York, Hariri insisted on Ban to "increase pressure on "Israel" for a total withdrawal from the occupied Ghajar, Shebaa farms and the Kafarshouba hills, and return this territory to the Lebanese sovereignty."

Moreover, Hariri assured that "Lebanon depends on the United Nations in preventing any "Israeli" violation on the Lebanese economic zone, and exploiting the Lebanon's underwater gas and oil."

Lebanon had sent its maps to the United Nations, acting in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of which Lebanon is a signatory, while "Israel" still refuses to sign it.
Following the meeting, UNSC Secretary General told An-Nahar daily "the meeting was very good and friendly, and I support PM Hariri and his government."

He added "We discussed all the issues including the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, the maritime borders issue, and the situation on the blue line on which we will issue a statement soon."
