Jumblatt: I Will Abide By Demands of Syria, We Entered a New Phase with Resignation of Ministers
Local Editor
According to Lebanese Daily Al AKhbar, sources pointed out that the Socialist Progressive Party leader Walid Jumblatt informed the Syrian leadership he is committed to all what it urges him to do. Still, the source added, some sides in the opposition feel suspicious about Jumblatt's "maneuvers" and his desire to find exits that exempt him from taking a position.
In his turn, Jumblatt considered that Lebanon has entered a new phase with the resignation of the 11 ministers, "Therefore we have entered a new phase," he said.
Jumblatt refused to disclose the coming steps, but he assured he is coordinating all steps with Syria.
During his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Botros Sfeir, Jumblatt underscored the dangers threatening Lebanon, particularly the "Israeli" threat, reiterating the importance of internal dialogue.
According to Jumblatt's close sources, his visit to Bkirky comes in context of Jumblatt's preference of holding dialogue with Christians through President Suleiman as well as the Maronite Patriarch. According to sources, Jumblatt believes that Samir Jaejae and Michel Aoun are extremists, and can take the country to havoc.
