The Independent Members of Parliament representing Tripoli, Najib Miqati, Mohammad Safadi, Ahmad Karami, and Qassem Abdul Aziz, urged the Lebanese political leaders to convert the Lebanese crisis to a chance of resolving and confirming national unity.

The MPs confirmed in a joint statement issued after their meeting Saturday, that from their Parliamentary position in Tripoli, they understand the Lebanese people's concerns, especially those of the Sunni sect.

The MPs stated that they were shocked by the western stances over the Lebanese political and social pattern, which offend the Sunni sect and jeopardize the future of Lebanon.

The Independent MPs' statement stated that the formation of the new government is a national merit concerned with all the Lebanese.

The statement also added that naming the new Prime Minister is a constitutional matter, even if the political sectarianism had excluded constitutional merits from its democratic content.

The MPs of Tripoli confirmed that although the position of Prime Minister should be occupied by a political figure from the Sunni sect, but it strictly remains to be a national position.

Furthermore, the statement added that any resolution for the Lebanese crisis should be based on the constitution and the national Taef accord.

The Tripoli Independent MPs praised the good will of Saudi Arabia and Syria for the efforts exerted by Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The statement confirmed that the Internal Lebanese dialogue remains essential in any resolution, and therefore the Lebanese are responsible for their future, with what is related to achieving national unity and stability.

MPs Miqati, Safadi, Karami, and Abdul Aziz expressed they are committed to the state of right, its institutions and justice, adding that the only guarantee for the Lebanese people is when dialogue is adopted as the only way to tackle the Lebanese crisis.
