Minister Shami Summons US Ambassador for Interference in Lebanese Affairs
Local Editor
Resigned Foreign Minister Ali Shami summoned the US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly over her recent visit to Zahleh to meet MP Nicolas Fattoush.
Minister Shami believed that this type of contact is considered to be interference in Lebanese internal affairs, and it is incompatible with the diplomatic duties stated by national and international rules and laws, especially in Vienna's Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.
Minister Ali Shami reminded the US Ambassador of the content of the statements distributed by the Foreign Ministry to all diplomatic missions in Lebanon, in which their powers are stated.
Connelly left the meeting without declaring any statement.
