Wahhab: Jumblatt’s Pro-Opposition Position, Prevented New Shake in Lebanon
Local Editor
Head of Arab Tawhid Party, former Minister Wiam Wahhab confirmed that the opposition, since the very beginning, opposed the coming back of caretaker PM Saad Hariri to premiership.
Wahhab said that some changes occurred in votes, which came in favor of former PM Omar Karami.
Former Minister Wahhab stressed that Karami is related to the Sunni equation before Hariri was enrolled in it.
In a radio interview, Wiam Wahhab said, "PM Karami will be assigned as the new PM next Monday, with the majority of 65 or 67 votes".
Concerning Head of Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt's position over the parliamentary consultations, Wahhab said that Jumblatt did not change, but was concerned since the very beginning with the success of the initiatives.
Wahhab denied Jumblatt being subject to any pressure, referring that the latter stated his beliefs, through which he prevented another shake in the Lebanese situation.
Upon question, Head of Arab Tawhid Party said, "I am not a candidate for the ministry, I am rational. The opposition needs 7 votes from Walid Jumblatt, and therefore he should name the ministers".
