Head of the "National Struggle Front" MP Walid Jumblatt was discontent to the pro-Hariri street protests that took place on Monday night following the binding consultations.
In a statement to As-Safir newspaper, Jumblatt said "what is unusual is that the street protests that took place contradict all what Hariri had called for, concerning going back to the state institutions and the constitution, as well as accepting the results of a democratic game and rejecting street language."

"All what happened contradicts Hariri's say. Personally I think these protests mean nothing, and are useless, especially that Sheikh Saad Hariri was the first to denounce resorting to street protests, so what happened?" Jumblatt wondered.
Answering a question on whether these protests will affect the second round of consultations or lead to canceling it, Jumblatt ruled out such a possibility, assuring "A major responsibility lies on PM Saad Hariri, as he should address his supporters and call them to accept the results of the democratic game."

He reiterated that no one wants to cancel any side or party in the country, stressing that all sides should cooperate in an attempt to save the country with the formation of a government capable of protecting the country, its security and stability.
Jumblatt further said that resorting to street protests has disastrous results and all should be aware that the street cancels all sides.

On another note, Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat on Monday announced the end of his Democratic Gathering parliamentary bloc, after four MPs of the 11-member gathering decided not to back his candidate for the premiership.

Following binding consultations with President Michel Suleiman at the Baabda Palace on naming a new PM, Jumblat said that his bloc will now be renamed to the National Struggle Front.

The new bloc, which voted for ex-PM Najib Miqati to head the country's next government, comprises MPs Walid Jumblat, Ghazi Aridi, Wael Abu Faour, Akram Shehayyeb, Alaeddine Terro, Nehme Tohme and Elie Aoun.
