Italian Ambassador Confirms Lebanon’s Right to Benefit from Maritime Oil Resources

Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito confirmed Lebanon's right to make use of the maritime oil resources, as long as it stays fully committed to international law.

Upon question, Ambassador Morabito referred that the maritime border demarcation requires negotiations between relevant countries.

During his visit to Foreign Minister in the caretaker government, Ali Shami, Italian Ambassador stated that the United Nations can play an important role in negotiations between Lebanon and "Israel".
He referred that although the UNIFIL is not qualified to conduct such mediation, it is exceptional in this case between the rival countries.
