Guy to As-Safir: Indictment Beyond Hizbullah, We Have Confidence in Mikati Government

"The indictment is beyond Hizbullah, the atmosphere of the party indicates it no longer cares about it," British Ambassador to Lebanon Frances Guy told As-Safir in remarks published on Friday.

The British Ambassador added that accusing Hizbullah is a deduction and not a certainty, where the certainty is that no one knows yet who will be mentioned in the list of indictment to be issued in former PM Rafiq Hariri's assassination.

Upon question, Guy stated that her country has confidence in PM-designate Najib Mikati's government, saying there is no reason not to, where he is capable of leasing a government that would meet the Lebanese people's demands.

British Ambassador Frances Guy further wished Mikati all the best in his mission to form the cabinet.

Regarding the main reason that led to the government transformation in Lebanon, Guy pointed out, "The one who changed the government was Walid Jumblatt".

She added that therefore, Jumlatt should be asked why he changed his mind and nominated PM-designate Najib Mikati rather than caretaker PM Saad Hariri.
