Mikati after Meeting Asarta: Lebanese Army-UNIFIL Cooperation Supports South Lebanon Stability

Lebanese PM-designate Najib Mikati stressed on the importance of cooperation with the UNIFIL in order to support stability in south Lebanon, in addition to abiding by international resolutions, especially resolution 1701.

PM Mikati's remarks came after receiving Head of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, General Alberto Asarta, heading a delegation, in presence of Lebanese Government's coordinator with the UNIFIL troops, Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Chehaitly.

During the meeting, General Asarta clarified to PM Mikati the stabled situation in the UNIFIL area in South Lebanon.

In this context, the UNIFIL General pointed out that apart from the Oddaisy clashes between the Lebanese army and the "Israeli" enemy, which occurred since a couple of months, the situation in the south has been calm for two years.

Alberto Asarta also praised the cooperation and coordination taking place between the UNIFIL troops and the Lebanese Army.
