Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned against plots hatched by arrogant powers with the purpose of stirring up Iran-Arab and Shia-Sunni strife, urging regional nations to remain vigilant.

"Arrogant powers are trying to sow the seeds of discord in the region. They are trying to provoke regional divisions and provoke wars among nations and governments in order to sell their weapons," said the Iranian president on Monday in a ceremony marking the national Army Day.

He added that enemies are making efforts to reinforce their evil pillars in the region and pointed out, "By God's grace, Iranians and other regional nations are vigilant. All nations in the region need to remain vigilant."

The Iranian chief executive emphasized, that a new Middle East region would take shape without the presence of the United States and "Israel", stressing, "The era of Zionism and capitalism is over."

"The US is not an honest friend because it has always betrayed its friends. However, Iran is a true friend of all nations," President Ahmadinejad further said.
