“Israeli” Chief of Staff: “Israel” Faces Growing Range of Threats
Local Editor
Chief of Staff Benny Gantz said on Tuesday that "The spectrum of threats in light of the changes in the Middle East is growing."
The "Israel" Forces will ask the state to increase its defense budget significantly to contend with the growing terror threats in the region, Chief of Staff Benny Gantz said on Tuesday.
Speaking to the the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Gantz said Gantz estimated that the next conflict will be brief but intense. "The IDF is preparing for a multiple-front threat. In fighting groups operating out of urban areas, we shall be forced to exercise a lot of force, even if it will see the other side paying a painful price."
He added that seeing demonstrators trespass minefields in the Golan Heights was frustrating
Gantz noted "The IDF is prepared for these demonstrations in Judea, Samaria and Gaza and on our borders." He added that the IDF has trained its soldiers and prepared equipment for such an occurrence.
Referring to the upcoming Turkish flotilla, Gantz said that the IDF will work to prevent any attempt to break the naval blockade.
