Italian Senator Describes Iran as Major Regional Power

During a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Ahani on Wednesday, senior Italian senator, Lamberto Dini describes Iran as a major regional power, confirming that the Islamic Republic cannot be disregarded in the international arena.
Fars news agency reported that Senator Dini, also chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Italian Senate, expressed hope that Tehran would be able to play a more active role in the resolution of the regional crisis.
Moreover, Lamberto Dini referred to the significant role which Iran played in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, stating that Italy is willing to cooperate with Iran in reconstructing Afghanistan and restoring life in the impoverished country.
On his part, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American affairs expressed his country's will to expand ties with Italy, further urging for more cooperation between Tehran and Rome on the political, economic, cultural, parliamentary and international levels.
