Supreme Leader Urges Approach to Reading Books

Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran His Eminence Sayyed Ali Khamanei stressed on the importance of adopting a new attitude regarding the culture of reading books in Iran.

During a meeting he held in presence of officials from Iran's major public libraries, Sayyed Khamenei referred to Iran's history of publishing books, however expressed disappointment at the current figures of published and read books in the culture-rich country.

In this context, His Eminence reaffirmed that the youth should be encouraged to read useful books which would have good impact on them and on their lives.
He noted that books will never be isolates despite the progress made in communication and technology, reiterating that nothing can replace books.

Furthermore, Sayyed Ali Khamenei stated that books should be present to meet public and intellectual demands through further publication and translation; a way through which books will spread, and reading books will once again become an everyday habit among all Iranians.
