Iran MPs Discuss lowering Ties With UK

"A double-urgency bill will soon be introduced to the parliament to downgrade Iran's political relations with Britain to the level of charge d'affaires and minimize the whole economic, trade and cultural cooperation with London."
He underlined that the measure will be adopted due to the inimical positions of the British government against the great Iranian nation and government and with regard to the fact that such positions in no way match the level of the political ties between the two countries which are now at an ambassadorial level.
Iran on Wednesday looked to expelling the British ambassador in angry retaliation for fresh sanctions which have been slammed by both China and Russia.
Iranian lawmakers, adopted an emergency bill to be voted on Sunday that would downgrade diplomatic relations to the level of charge d'affaires if passed.
The bill also said parliament could take action "on other countries that behave in a manner similar to that of Britain," according to the Fars news agency.
Britain this week, in coordination with the United States and Canada, announced the new sanctions on Iran.
Earlier Wednesday, Head of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi had announced that the legislature intended to start final discussions and vote on the bill.
