As Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zebari headed his country's delegation to the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council, held in Cairo, the minister informed that Baghdad will declare its reservation on the sanctions against Syria.

In the press conference he held in the Holy city of Njaf al-Ashraf, Zebari expressed "Iraq's keenness to solve the issue and solidarity with the Syrian people."

"Iraq will express reservations on the sanctions to be imposed due to the economic relations between the two countries," he added.

"We couldn't impose sanctions on Syria because there are great economic
relations with Syria who hosts a big number of Iraqi people," referring that Lebanon and Jordan also announced reservations on the draft resolution.

Meanwhile, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani announced his country's rejection of any military intervention in Syria.

In an interview with "al-Iraqia" TV broadcast, Talabani reiterated his support to work for the reforms that the Syrian people seek.
