Iran Navy Chief: US Drills in ME Stage Psychological War, Navy Ready to Counter All Threats
The Iranian Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari stated that the US's joint maneuvers with some countries in the Middle East represent an attempt to launch a psychological warfare.
"The US's joint drills with regional countries have no effect in establishing security in the region and is merely a psychological war", Sayyari indicated on Saturday.
Previously on Friday, Admiral Sayyari confirmed that his country's naval forces are ready to confront any threat against its maritime borders.
"Today, Iran's Navy enjoys full authority to counter possible acts of aggression and threats by enemies and has an influential presence", IRNA quoted Sayyari as saying in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad on Friday.
"Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei expects the navy to be present in international waters at full strength and with full defense capabilities and to defend the country's resources and interests against possible threats by enemies", the Iranian Navy Commander stressed.
He also added that over the past three years, the Iranian navy dispatched some 16 fleets to international waters of the northern Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean.
Sayyari further affirmed that Iran is a peace-seeking nation and does not encroach on the interests of other nations.
