Syrian Ambassador: Syria Will Survive Crisis Due to Popular Unity Against Conspiracy
Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali hailed the Lebanese government's decision to fund the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), saying he supports it as long as there is "a Lebanese consensus" over the issue".
In this context, he indicated that "funding the STL is a Lebanese internal affair", confirming that Syria praises any effort that strengthens Lebanon, enhances its stability, and reflects a productive governmental work.
After his meeting with former Lebanese Prime Minister Omar Mikati, Ambassador Abdul Karim Ali pointed out the constant communication and cooperation between the Syrian Embassy and the Lebanese government.
Also, Syria's Ambassador hoped that the Lebanese government would investigate the arms and terrorist smuggling from Lebanon to Syria. On this level, he called for more border-line efficiency between both countries to prevent any kind of smuggling, especially that of armed people and weapons which jeopardize Syria's stability.
Moreover, Ambassador Abdul Karim Ali confirmed that there is an internal immunity in Syria to deal with all issues, reiterating that there is self sufficiency in his country. He also indicated that some anti-Syria sanctions are starting to result opposite to what the countries that imposed them sought.
Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon believed that the Arab popular pressure and decisions impose on the countries to reconsider its policies in light of the US-"Israeli" greed, further confirming that "Syria will get out of its crisis more immune due to the popular unity against this dangerous conspiracy".
