At the time when everyone is waiting for the official Syrian stance regarding the Arab League approval to amend articles of the observing mission's protocol, as-Safir Lebanese daily quoted a high-ranked Syrian official saying that "Damascus has sent its response to the AL Sunday night, and the results will be linked to the Arab intentions".

The said Syrian official refused to elaborate on the response's details; however, as-Safir sources reported that "Syria has requested the freeze of AL sanctions adopted on its behalf at the moment the protocol is signed, therefore annulling Syria's AL membership suspension, and stopping all economic sanctions".
The Lebanese daily's sources added that "the Syrian response came after Damascus decided to give another chance in which it tests the Arab intentions towards Syria".

On another hand, al-Binaa newspaper indicated that although the Arab ministerial committee has assigned Sunday to be the day in which Syria signs the observers' protocol, yet this issue was not final until very late Sunday night hours.

According to political sources, al-Binaa daily stated that the Syrian Foreign Ministry and the AL General Secretariat were communicating all day Sunday.
The daily added that the back and forth letters included an initial AL acceptance of the Syrian remarks on the draft protocol, and approved amending some articles; where so-far the atmosphere seems to be positive.
