Syrian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Jihad al-Maqdisi affirmed in a press conference held in Damascus on Monday, that his country accepted the Arab League's (AL) request to send observers to Syria, as part of a fact-finding mission.
The Spokesman added that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem "responded positively" to the AL demand, and sent a letter to the AL Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi on Sunday night to confirm Syria's approval.
Moreover, al-Maqdisi clarified that Syria requested signing the protocol in Damascus, and also requested that all discussions that took place would be annexed to the draft protocol.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesman, the Syrian government demanded that it should be informed with the names of observers and places they would be monitoring.
