The Islamic Republic of Iran released video footage of the US reconnaissance drone that was downed by the Iranian army earlier this week over the eastern part of the country.

Iran Reveals Footage of Downed US Drone

In this context, the Iranian TV broadcasted the footage of the 4.5 meter long plane, which has electronic devices, cameras, advances telecommunication devices, in addition to advanced radar systems.
The US RQ-170 plane is considered one of the planes that cannot be monitored by the radars, as it is described to be "the most technologically advanced planes in the area of espionage".

On Tuesday, two US officials confirmed that the drone has been part of a CIS reconnaissance mission, in which the US intelligence community stationed in Afghanistan was involved.

Furthermore, Iran stressed that the US reconnaissance mission was a "hostile act", adding that it will complain to the UN over the violation of its airspace. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also summoned the Swiss Ambassador in Tehran to condemn the US violation of Iranian airspace.
