The Islamic Republic of Iran strictly criticized the latest US assault on Iran's sovereignty, calling upon the UN to convict such actions and adopt appropriate measures to halt this blatant breach of international laws.

In a letter addressed to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, permanent Iranian envoy at the UN Mohammad Khazaei listed the provoking US anti-Iran operations that have been escalating in the past couple of months.

The letter further noted that the US RQ-170 spy drone violated the Iranian airspace reaching as deep as 250 Kilometers over the Iranian territories; and therefore this called for an intervention by the Army Forces to down the plane.

Moreover, Khazaei confirmed that the said US act is a blatant violation and contradicts with international laws, especially the UN charter, further voicing Tehran's protest for such aggressions.
Also, permanent Iranian envoy at the UN warned from repeating such steps, referring that his country has the right to adopt all required measures to maintain its national sovereignty.

The Iranian official letter called for the conviction of these assaults in the framework of UN responsibilities to maintain regional, international peace and security in accordance with the UN convention.
