Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi confirmed that the relations between Tehran and Ankara are based on "brotherhood and friendship".
In an interview with Anatolia Turkish news agency, Salehi stated that the official view of his country towards Turkey is based on seep friendship.

"Our relations with Turkey are currently at their best in political and economic areas as well as the ties among our people", Salehi iterated.
He further affirmed that other views in this regard would be considered as "personal opinion", and do not reflect the official position of Iran.

In this context, Iran's Foreign Minister indicated that there are some sides that are seeking to sabotage the cordial relations between Iran and Turkey, and "incite enmity and misunderstanding" between them, with reference to the west.
"The Westerners are trying to portray Iran and Turkey as rivals, but the two countries are not rivals; rather they complement one another", Salehi noted.

On another hand, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu said that there are no tensions between Tehran and Ankara.
Commenting on his Iranian counterpart's aforementioned remarks, Davutoglu appreciated the friendly remarks made by Salehi, stated that the latter has endorsed views shares by both countries.

Moreover, Turkey's Foreign Minister reiterated that no one and nothing would tarnish ties between Iran and Turkey because they are "long-stating and old".
