KSA’s Activists Call For ’’Yusuf Ahmed’s Friday’’ Demanding Release of Political Opponents
Saudi activists called to a new sit-in on Friday to keep the pressure on the authorities to release thousands of political opponents and prisoners of conscience in KSA.
In an interview with "United Press International", the activists dubbed the name of "Yusuf Ahmed's Friday" on the sit-in to be implemented in conjunction with the Friday prayers in a number of worship sites in the Saudi capital Riyadh, the city of Buraidah in the Qassim region, Abha, Skaka, and the city of Jeddah."
It is noteworthy that several months ago the Saudi authorities arrested Sheikh Youssef al-Ahmed during his visit to his father in the city of Dammam in the eastern region.
Sheikh Ahmed broadcasted a "YouTube" message appealing to King Abdullah bin
Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Interior Minister for Security Affairs Mohamed bin Nayef to consider the situation of those detained several years ago and to work on their trial rather than continuing to prison the without trial.
Activists hope that the Saudi authorities and the Saudi Crown Prince, who also holds the reins of the Interior Ministry since 1975, respond to their demands of releasing the prisoners and to prosecute others who languish in prisons, some for more than 15 years without a trial.
